There has recently been a number of inquiries in regards to ceremonies contained within the older rite of Baptism that are not present in the modern rites (i.e., exorcisms, anointings, and extra blessings), and whether these ceremonies can be “supplied” to those baptized with the modern rite.

The modern rite of Baptism is a promulgated ritual complete in itself (just as the older rite). But in regards to the older rite of Baptism (which we utilize exclusively here at All Saints), the Church only authorizes the use of the ceremonies within the context of either a Baptism or the reception of a convert who is already validly baptized; this especially applies to the exorcisms. Therefore, these ceremonies are not intended to be supplied to already validly baptized Catholics. If there are further questions on this matter, please see one of the priests.
